[pullquote quote="I'm not the kind of person that would retire from baseball and come out of retirement the next year. I mean, if we went to all the trouble of telling people we're done, we meant it. "]Jack White has conquered Saturday Night Live with grace and swagger. He sent fans into a swoon at this year’s’ South by Southwest festival–where getting in was practically impossible, we’re told.

He’s been hustling at promoting his first solo endeavor, the highly-anticipated Blunderbuss, which includes tracks like “Love Interruption” and “Sixteen Saltines.”

White, however, is never going to put the White Stripes back together for a reunion. According to Consequence of Sound, he said there’s “absolutely no chance.”

[pullquote quote="If you're going to use the word 'love', I wanted to provoke some kind of thought that's what I wanted it to do for me."]“I couldn’t see any reason to ever do that,” White said in an interview. “I’m not the kind of person that would retire from baseball and come out of retirement the next year. I mean, if we went to all the trouble of telling people we’re done, we meant it, you know?”

“If we were forced to change our mind about that,” elaborated White,”I can only imagine being the reason (sic), like if for some reason we went bankrupt or something or needed the cash, which would be a really sad thing, I would probably be issuing an apology along with the announcement of the show dates!”

And with the positive buzz surrounding Blunderbuss, entreaties to get White Stripes back together are definitely in vain. Critics seem to be “in love” with the new album.

The rock star showed up to a playback session at the historical Debating Chamber at London’s County Hall last night where he explained the meaning of “love” in his song “Love Interruption.”

“It’s hard to put love in a song because it’s been used for so long, thousands of times in plays, paintings, poems and if you’re going to say that word I think you have to really put a twist on it for yourself,” elucidated White. “If you’re going to use the word ‘love’, I wanted to provoke some kind of thought that’s what I wanted it to do for me.”

Blunderbuss is out April 24th via Third Man/Columbia.
